Cardedu struggles with illegal camper van encampments

In Cardedu, authorities are struggling to manage an influx of illegal camper van encampments along the Museddu seafront and in the Seleni forest. Local officials report that prohibitions are being systematically violated, particularly by foreign tourists, due to a lack of personnel available for nighttime inspections.

Mayor Marcello Vacca stated that the municipality lacks the staff to conduct capillary controls and is preparing a resolution to authorize local police to address the issue. Experts have raised concerns regarding environmental degradation and public hygiene, noting that unauthorized camping in unequipped areas is leading to littering and the misuse of natural vegetation as sanitation facilities.
