Rapper Cardi B has publicly defended the girl group KATSEYE against online criticism regarding their new single, ‘Hootie Frutti’. During an Instagram Live session on August 17, Cardi B sang along to the track and stated that she and her family members, including Kulture and Amor, enjoy the song despite the mixed reactions from critics.
The single is part of KATSEYE’s recently released project, ‘WILDEP’. The track has seen significant commercial traction, reaching number 6 on Spotify’s U.S. Daily Top Songs chart and number 12 globally. The music video, directed by Alfred Marroquin, features choreography inspired by Britney Spears’ ‘I’m a Slave 4 U’ and has been noted by some critics for its resemblance to Brazilian phonk.
This endorsement follows previous support from Cardi B, who attended the group’s Governors Ball performance earlier this year. KATSEYE is scheduled to begin their ‘WILDWORLD Tour’ next month.
