Cardi B responds to criticism regarding Nicki Minaj influence

During an X Spaces session on Wednesday, Oct. 21, Cardi B addressed fans and critics regarding a list of personal influencers she provided to The New York Times. While she credited Madonna, Lil Kim, and Foxy Brown with shaping her style and persona, she did not include Nicki Minaj.

Cardi B defended her decision by emphasizing her individuality, stating, “If you imitate other b*tches’ mannerisms, you’re not gonna make it because you’re not being yourself. So me making it, it was because I’m being myself.” She noted that she included Foxy Brown despite personal friction because she listened to her music while younger.
