Cardiff man sentenced for sexual assault and child abuse images
Liam Hobbs, 27, of Ely, Cardiff, has been sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court following his conviction for sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 13. The court also found him guilty of possessing more than 100 indecent images and videos of children discovered on his electronic devices.
Recorder Simon Hughes categorized Hobbs as a dangerous offender, noting a “deep-seated and long-held sexual interest in children.” He received a seven-year extended sentence for the sexual assaults and a consecutive 14-month prison term for the possession of indecent images. Hobbs must serve two-thirds of his five-year custodial term before being eligible for parole.
