Cardigan Bay Regatta celebrates 150th anniversary in New Quay Bay

The 150th Cardigan Bay Regatta took place in New Quay Bay, featuring 15 keelboats and 15 dinghies. While participation levels remained consistent with previous years, the event faced weather challenges on its third day. After two days of favorable sailing conditions, high winds and large waves forced the cancellation of dinghy racing and limited keelboat activity due to safety concerns.

Competitive racing included the Hawk 20s, the IRC fleet, and the Byron fleet. Notable winners included Drycin Bach in the Fishguard feeder race and Harlequin in the Cardigan feeder race. In the Hawk fleet, Bobble took top honors under IRC, while Laughing Jackass won the Byron category.

In addition to sailing, the regatta hosted various inshore and family events, such as sea swimming, paddleboarding, sandcastle building, and the return of the Odd Job Boat Race. Participants traveled from various regions, including Cornwall, Derbyshire, and North Wales, to attend the milestone anniversary event.
