Cardinal Baltazar Porras calls for justice and transparency in Venezuela

Cardinal Baltazar Porras presided over a commemorative Eucharist to mark the centenary of Rotary in Venezuela on October 3. During his homily, the Catholic Church representative emphasized the necessity of consolidating justice, transparency, and coexistence within the country.

Porras highlighted that peace requires both individual and collective efforts, urging citizens to remain active participants amidst current social and economic difficulties. He warned against the risks of biased power application, stating, “There can be no justice without transparency, there can be no justice without equality.”

The Cardinal also addressed the socioeconomic disparities between Caracas and the country's interior regions. He noted that many interior states face persistent failures in basic services, including electricity, potable water, and transportation, while often facing a higher cost of living than the capital.
