Cardinal Battaglia condemns Camorra and war during San Gennaro celebrations
During the solemn celebrations for the patron saint San Gennaro in Naples, Cardinal Domenico Battaglia delivered a powerful homily addressing both organized crime and global conflicts. Speaking from the Naples Cathedral, the Cardinal condemned the Camorra, describing its activities as a ‘war without uniforms’ that inflicts deep wounds on families and the younger generation. He emphasized that membership in criminal organizations is fundamentally incompatible with the Catholic faith and criticized the culture of favoritism and illegality.
In an emotional address, the Cardinal also spoke regarding international conflicts in Palestine and Ukraine. He expressed a desire for the miracle of San Gennaro’s blood to remain the only blood discussed in the future, stating he did not want to compare the saint's blood to that of innocent children killed in war. He called for an end to the habituation to violence, urging a cry for peace to emerge from Naples.
