Cardinal Dominique Mamberti to preside over coronation in Ciminà

The Diocese of Locri-Gerace has announced that the Holy See, via the Apostolic Penitentiary, has granted the faithful the opportunity to obtain a Plenary Indulgence. This spiritual privilege is available during the Settenario period and the feast days in honor of Madonna Addolorata, spanning from September 13 to September 20, under standard Church conditions.

The announcement coincides with a major religious event in Ciminà: the solemn coronation of the venerated image of Madonna Addolorata, scheduled for Saturday, September 19, at 5:00 PM. Cardinal Dominique Mamberti, Prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura, will preside over the coronation ceremony.

Cardinal Mamberti is noted for his role in announcing the election of Pope Leo XIV from the central Loggia of St. Peter's Basilica on May 8, 2025. His presence in Ciminà is expected to draw pilgrims and connect the Locride community to the universal Church.
