Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle urges youth to embrace the Eucharist

During a homily on October 11 at the Sanctuary of the Apparition of Saint Francis in Assisi, Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization, addressed young people regarding the importance of the Eucharist.

Speaking on the liturgical memorial of Saint Carlo Acutis, the Filipino prelate highlighted Acutis’s devotion to the Eucharist, noting that the saint described it as his “highway to Heaven.” Cardinal Tagle encouraged the youth to respond to Jesus’s invitation with enthusiasm, warning that participating in the “feasts of pride, power, and violence” can lead to spiritual ruin.

He further emphasized the missionary role of believers, stating that they are not merely guests at God’s feast but servants sent to invite others in all settings, including schools, hospitals, social media, and conflict zones.
