Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa honored at Don Tonino Bello Award

The third edition of the “Don Tonino Bello” Award was held in Alessano, Puglia, centered on the theme “Peace in the world, Peace in Jerusalem.” The event honored Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, for his testimony and commitment to peace in the Holy Land.

During the ceremony, Puglia Regional President Antonio Decaro praised the late Bishop Don Tonino Bello as a spiritual and moral authority whose teachings on dialogue and fraternity remain vital. Decaro emphasized the importance of being “builders of peace” rather than walls, particularly in a global climate marked by conflict and social division.

The event included participation from various religious and social leaders, including Monsignor Vito Angiuli, Monsignor Giovanni Ricchiuti of Pax Christi, and Don Luigi Ciotti of Libera, alongside the family of Don Tonino Bello.
