Cardinal Pizzaballa discusses Middle East peace in Molfetta

Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Patriarch of Jerusalem, held a meeting in Molfetta focused on peace and the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. During the event at the Madonna della Pace, the Cardinal drew parallels between the current situation in the Holy Land and the historical legacy of Don Tonino Bello.

Specifically, Pizzaballa referenced Don Tonino Bello’s 1992 peace march to the besieged city of Sarajevo as a symbol of perseverance in the face of war. He connected this historical testimony to the modern violence affecting Israel and the Palestinian territories following the events of October 7, 2023.

Additionally, the Cardinal met with the Mayor of Molfetta, Manuel Minervini, to discuss the humanitarian situation in the Holy Land and the necessity of international intervention to halt the violence.
