Cardinal Timothy Dolan honored with human rights award

Archbishop Elpidophoros of America presided over an event honoring Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the Archbishop Emeritus of New York, with the ‘Athenagoras’ human rights award. The distinction was presented by the Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in the United States.

During the ceremony, Archbishop Elpidophoros described Cardinal Dolan as a “giant of the modern Roman Catholic Church” and a bridge between the old and new worlds. The Archons of the Order of Saint Andrew highlighted Dolan’s sixteen-year tenure as Archbishop of New York, noting his commitment to Christian unity and his advocacy for religious believers facing persecution.

Additionally, Archbishop Elpidophoros called upon attendees to offer prayers for the rapid recovery and continued ministry of Pope Leo XIV.
