Cardiologists identify four foods to help control blood pressure

Cardiologists have identified four specific foods that may assist in managing blood pressure and supporting cardiovascular health: salmon, rocket (arugula), beetroot, and kale. While reducing salt intake remains a primary recommendation for hypertension, these foods offer specific nutrients that contribute to heart health.

Salmon is noted for being a source of healthy fats and omega-3 fatty acids, which are associated with modest reductions in blood pressure. Rocket and beetroot are highlighted for their high nitrate content; these compounds can be converted by the body into nitric oxide, which helps relax and dilate blood vessels to improve blood flow. Beetroot also provides fiber, folate, potassium, and antioxidants.

Medical specialists emphasize that individuals with existing blood pressure conditions should consult a health professional before making significant dietary changes.
