Cardiologists warn of rising heart attack risks in younger populations
Medical experts are warning of a rising trend in heart attacks occurring at younger ages. Cardiology specialists note that while cardiovascular diseases remain the leading cause of death globally, risk factors such as hypertension, diabetes, high cholesterol, obesity, and smoking—including electronic cigarettes—are increasingly affecting younger populations.
To mitigate these risks, doctors recommend monitoring biochemical markers like CRP and insulin resistance, as well as managing waist circumference through physical activity. While certain physical signs like the ‘Frank sign’ (a crease on the earlobe) have been studied in relation to heart disease, experts emphasize that managing blood pressure, sugar, and cholesterol levels is more critical for prevention.
Dietary habits also play a significant role. Experts suggest that while regional cuisines rich in red meat and fats do not need to be abandoned, individuals should reduce portion sizes, limit salt intake, and opt for baking or boiling over frying. Common symptoms of a heart attack include chest pressure, pain radiating to the arms or jaw, shortness of breath, cold sweats, and nausea. In the event of these symptoms, immediate emergency medical assistance should be sought.
