Cardiology experts emphasize early prevention of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases

At the 65th National Congress of Cardiology in Sinaia, Professor John Eric Deanfield, Director of the National Centre for Cardiovascular Prevention & Outcomes at University College London, emphasized that cardiovascular prevention must begin long before disease onset. He noted that childhood health is a critical investment for the future and identified obesity as a major growing threat to population health.

Medical experts also highlighted the metabolic shifts that occur after age 40, such as the gradual decline in testosterone and muscle mass. Dr. Raluca Olteanu explained that a decrease in muscle mass can lead to insulin resistance, increasing the risk of diabetes and hypertension. Experts recommend daily physical activity, combining cardio and strength training, as a primary metabolic intervention to manage glucose processing and prevent chronic cardiovascular issues.
