Cardiology preventive screenings deployed to remote Serbian village of Radikina Bara

Medical teams from the University Clinical Center of Niš and the Institute of Niška Banja carried out the seventh preventive cardiology examination in Radikina Bara, a village of about 40 residents located two kilometres from Niška Banja in Serbia. The mobile unit, equipped for specialist cardiac assessments and multidisciplinary checks—including surgery, anesthesiology and physiotherapy—allowed doctors to identify worsening conditions, suggest urgent diagnostics or refer patients for further treatment.

Director of UKC Niš doc. dr Milan Lazarević said, “If a patient cannot get to a doctor – the doctor must go to the patient,” stressing the state’s policy of reaching even the most remote settlements. Institute director Dejan Petrović added that the team is ready to travel “to a single house” when needed. A mobile ambulance will soon serve neighboring villages such as Donja Studena, Gornja Studena and Čukljenik. Mayor Dragoslav Pavlović urged the health centre to open as promised, highlighting the importance of continued investment in rural health and tourism potential.
