Cardiovascular health: Recognizing subtle heart attack warning signs

Medical experts are highlighting subtle cardiovascular warning signs that are often mistaken for fatigue or stress. Key symptoms include unusual exhaustion that does not improve with rest, shortness of breath during light activity or at rest, dizziness, and cold sweats.

Chest discomfort may not always manifest as intense pain; it can present as pressure, tightness, weight, or a burning sensation. These sensations can radiate to the shoulders, arms, back, neck, or jaw. Notably, some individuals may experience these symptoms in the early morning hours, sometimes waking them from sleep, with the discomfort lasting five to ten minutes before dissipating.

Cardiologist Anna Korenevici notes that because these episodes can be short-lived and may disappear on their own, many people fail to seek medical attention. However, recurring symptoms—especially those triggered by physical exertion or cold temperatures—require professional evaluation to prevent imminent heart attacks.
