Caregiver challenges in Spain and pension bonuses in Chile

In Spain, caregivers of elderly relatives with cognitive impairment or Alzheimer's face significant challenges during the summer months. According to the Sanitas Alzheimer 2025 Study, caregivers report high levels of physical exhaustion (74.2%), sadness or depression (70.5%), and stress (69.7%). The change in routines and environmental factors, such as extreme heat, increases the need for constant vigilance regarding hydration and medication.

In Chile, pensioners can access the 'Bono por Años Cotizados' (Contribution Years Bonus), which can increase monthly pensions by up to 2.5 UF (approximately $101,928 CLP). The benefit is automatically deposited for individuals over 65 who meet specific contribution requirements: women must have at least 10 years of contributions, while men require at least 20 years. The amount scales based on the number of years worked, up to a maximum of 25 years of contributions.
