Carei hosts commemorative ceremonies for Mountain Hunters
Military ceremonies and religious services were held in Tășnad and Carei to conclude a four-day Commemorative March of the Mountain Hunters (Vânătorii de Munte). The event marked the 110th anniversary of the founding of these troops and honored the memory of Romanian soldiers who fought during the autumn of 1944 to liberate national territory.
The march spanned eight locations, including Sfântu Gheorghe, Târgu Mureș, Zalău, and Carei. Participants included members of the 61st Mountain Hunters Brigade ‘General Virgil Bădulescu’, led by Brigadier General Cristian Tiberiu Cristescu, and the 2nd Mountain Hunters Brigade ‘Sarmizegetusa’, led by Major Daniel Lobonț.
Local officials and representatives attended the ceremony at the Romanian Soldier Monument in Carei, including Deputy Adrian Cozma. Cozma emphasized the importance of preserving the memory of fallen heroes, stating, “Heroes must not only be in history books. They must remain in our memory and in the respect we show the Romanian Army.”
