CareTrust REIT invests $1.5 bn in US senior housing and UK care homes

CareTrust REIT (NYSE: CTRE) announced that its total 2026 investments have reached roughly $1.5 billion, driven by $735 million in skilled‑nursing and seniors‑housing acquisitions and a $397 million purchase of UK care‑home assets. CEO David Sedgwick said the nursing‑home sector is “too important to fail” and highlighted the company’s focus on high‑quality operators.

In the third quarter the REIT completed two major transactions worth about $291 million: two off‑market senior‑housing communities in Utah with 212 assisted‑living and memory‑care units, and a portfolio of 16 care homes across England and Scotland. The deals bring the quarter’s investment total to roughly $308 million at a blended stabilized yield of about 7.8 %, and the overall pipeline is estimated at $540 million, two‑thirds of which targets skilled‑nursing acquisitions.
