Cargill Argentina suspends Arribeños plant operations over safety concerns

Cargill Argentina announced the temporary suspension of its Arribeños processing plant in the General Arenales district of Buenos Aires Province, effective 3 July 2026. The company said the shutdown will remain in place until external conditions allow safe operation of the facility and the surrounding traffic.

The pause follows a dispute with transport service providers, whom Cargill clarified are independent contractors and not its employees. The company emphasized that the conflict stems from transport‑sector issues unrelated to its daily operations, and that safety for staff and nearby traffic is a non‑negotiable priority.

Cargill highlighted its more than 25‑year presence in the Arribeños community, noting that the plant supports direct and indirect jobs, works with over 70 local suppliers and maintains long‑term relationships with around 130 regional producers who depend on its services.
