Cargill deploys Private 5G networks across global manufacturing sites

Cargill has partnered with NTT DATA to deploy a fully managed Private 5G network across its global manufacturing and processing facilities. The initiative aims to provide a secure and scalable digital foundation to support various industrial technologies.

The rollout has expanded from approximately 20 pilot sites to more than 50 successfully deployed locations worldwide, utilizing over 160 radio access points. This infrastructure is designed to support connected worker programs, SAP modernization, robotics, automation, and emerging Edge AI use cases.

By implementing Private 5G, the company seeks to overcome the limitations of traditional Wi-Fi and wired infrastructure in large-scale industrial environments. The network provides seamless mobility for workers using ruggedized tablets and smartphones, as well as connectivity for autonomous inspection robots and real-time operational visibility.
