Cargill suspends Arribeños grain terminal amid transporters' dispute

Cargill has temporarily halted operations at its grain collection plant in Arribeños, General Arenales, Buenos Aires Province, stating that safety conditions are not guaranteed. The shutdown follows a dispute with about thirty local truckers who accuse the company’s principal load allocator, Sergio Larovere, of unfair practices and claim they have been excluded from work. Cargill maintains that the drivers are independent contractors and will resume activities once security can be assured. The suspension affects not only the transporters but also nearby workshops, fuel stations, merchants and other small suppliers that depend on the plant’s traffic.
