Caribbean Airlines to end Trinidad-Tobago-Barbados direct flights

Caribbean Airlines (CAL) has announced the discontinuation of its direct Trinidad-Tobago-Barbados return service, effective September 2. The airline stated that flights BW212 and BW213 will be removed as part of an ongoing effort to optimize its regional network and align schedules with customer demand.

Passengers with existing bookings on the affected flights will be re-accommodated on alternative CAL flights on the same day, and the airline has committed to contacting affected customers directly. While the direct service is ending, CAL noted that connectivity between Trinidad, Tobago, and Barbados will continue through other existing flights in its schedule.

This decision follows previous network adjustments made earlier this year. In May, the carrier discontinued services on routes involving Dominica, St. Kitts, and the route between Ogle, Guyana, and Suriname. Additionally, flight frequencies to the French Caribbean islands of Martinique and Guadeloupe will be reduced to twice weekly. These changes follow a review by the airline’s Route Oversight Committee, which found that several routes introduced during a 2023 expansion lacked sufficient commercial justification and resulted in significant financial losses.
