Caribbean deep-sea exploration identifies 20 suspected new species
An ocean exploration campaign in the Caribbean has identified approximately 20 potential new species living in deep-sea environments. These organisms were discovered hundreds of meters below the surface in dark, high-pressure zones far removed from the typical coral reef ecosystems.
Among the findings, a specific octopus has gained attention due to its unique appearance during dives. While these organisms are currently classified as suspected new species, the discovery highlights the significant gaps in scientific knowledge regarding the planet's deep ocean floors.
