Caribbean Premier League 2026 begins with expanded roster

The 14th edition of the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026 has commenced, featuring an expanded roster of seven teams including the new Jamaica Kingsmen and Antigua & Barbuda Falcons. The tournament consists of six weeks of Twenty20 cricket, with the final scheduled for September 20.

Defending five-time champions Trinbago Knight Riders, led by captain Nicholas Pooran, are set to defend their title with a squad including Sunil Narine and Kieron Pollard. Upcoming fixtures include a match between the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots and the Trinbago Knight Riders at the Arnos Vale Ground in St. Vincent.

Alongside the tournament, the CPL has launched the 'CPL SchoolYard' community initiative. This program includes 'Back to School' events in Saint Lucia and Jamaica on August 17, where players will distribute school essentials to children. This will be followed by 'Take a Player to School' events in Guyana and Barbados on September 10 to promote digital literacy and inspire youth.
