Caribes de Anzoátegui secures victory and targets MLB pitcher Pedro Payano

Caribes de Anzoátegui defeated Bravos de Margarita 3-1 at the Nueva Esparta stadium on October 20, 2026. Panamanian pitcher Bryan Cáceres led the defensive effort, while Carlos Mendoza Jr. provided a crucial solo home run in the fifth inning. The win brings Caribes to a 5-1 record, placing them second in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP) standings.

In addition to recent on-field success, the team is working to incorporate Dominican pitcher Pedro Payano for the 2026-2027 season. Payano, a former Major League Baseball player with the Texas Rangers, is expected to join the bullpen once his visa is processed. His addition aims to strengthen the team's pitching depth following his recent stint in the Atlantic League.
