Cariboo-Prince George riding renamed to Cariboo-Prince George-Omineca

The Cariboo-Prince George federal riding has been officially renamed Cariboo-Prince George-Omineca following the passage of Bill C-25, which has received Royal Assent.

Member of Parliament Todd Doherty announced the change on September 22, 2026, noting that the decision followed consultations with residents. The addition of ‘Omineca’ aims to better reflect the geography, history, and identity of the constituency, particularly for residents in the Vanderhoof area who felt the previous name did not adequately represent their community.

The expanded riding covers a large portion of the central interior, including Prince George, Vanderhoof, Quesnel, Williams Lake, 100 Mile House, and the Chilcotin Plateau. The new name will be utilized in all official communications and future elections.
