Caribus Phase 2 North road works in Mayotte impose one‑way traffic on RN1
On 4 August 2026, the CADEMA held an information commission for major users of the RN1 in Kawéni, Mayotte. Transporters, businesses, public services and emergency‑vehicle operators were briefed on the schedule and phasing of the Caribus Phase 2 North works between the MEGA and NEL junctions.
The project will place the RN1 under a one‑way regime, north‑to‑south only, starting 5 August 2026 and lasting until 21 August 2027. Vehicles travelling from Mamoudzou to Kawéni must use a detour via Martin Luther King street. Police forces will be on site to direct traffic and ensure safety. The works are expected to last two and a half years, with the first sub‑phase dedicated to the one‑way traffic arrangement.
Matthieu Duru, director of works for the Narendré project‑management group, said the traffic plan was approved with police, state services and CADEMA to minimise disruption while maintaining continuity of public transport and emergency services.
