Caridade municipality to be featured in Unidos da Tijuca 2027 Carnival theme

The samba school Unidos da Tijuca has selected the book ‘A cabeça do santo’ by Socorro Acioli as its theme for the 2027 Carnival. The narrative is set in the fictional town of Candeia, which is based on the real municipality of Caridade in Ceará.

Local officials, including Sibelle Tavares, the municipal secretary of Integrated Development, expressed pride in the selection, noting that the story of the ‘headless saint’ (Santo Antônio) will bring international attention to the region. In response to the book's popularity and the upcoming parade, the municipality is constructing a complex and a statue around the site of the saint to commemorate the local legend.
