Carina Escobar re-elected president of POP to bolster patient roles in healthcare

Carina Escobar has been unanimously re-elected as president of the Plataforma de Organizaciones de Pacientes (POP) for the 2026-2030 term. During an Extraordinary General Assembly in Madrid, the organization outlined its goal to strengthen the role of patient organizations within the National Health System (SNS).

The POP has grown significantly since 2022, expanding from 35 to 50 member organizations, a nearly 43% increase. Its territorial network now includes over 2,000 entities. This growth aims to enhance the participation of patients, families, and caregivers in health planning, evaluation, and governance, particularly regarding chronic diseases.
