Palermo man reported for tampered identity card

A 33-year-old man from Palermo has been reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office of Palermo following an incident at the Carini Carabinieri station. The individual had originally visited the station to file a routine report regarding the loss of his vehicle's registration document.

During the identification process, a Carabinieri officer noticed an anomaly in the man's electronic identity card. Upon inspection, it was discovered that the internal microchip had been removed with what was described as a highly precise, almost “surgical” intervention.

The tampered document was seized, and the man was charged with material falsehood committed by a private individual. The case is now under investigation by judicial authorities to determine the circumstances and reasons behind the alteration of the identity card.
