Caritas appoints new regional delegates in Sicily and Tuscany

New regional delegates have been appointed to lead Caritas branches in Sicily and Tuscany.

In Sicily, Father Nino Basile has been named the new Regional Delegate of Caritas Sicilia by the Sicilian Bishops. Basile, who currently serves as the director of the Caritas diocesana of Messina-Lipari-Santa Lucia del Mela, will take on this expanded role to coordinate and foster collaboration among the various diocesan Caritas organizations across the island. His work will focus on addressing new forms of poverty and social fragility through community listening and inclusion networks.

In Tuscany, Don Vittorio Giglio has been officially appointed as the regional delegate for Caritas Toscana. Giglio will maintain his leadership of the Caritas in Siena and Montepulciano while representing the unity between Caritas Italiana and the Tuscan branches. He noted that the appointment comes during a period of increasing poverty and international crises, highlighting the need to address urgent issues such as housing and the impacts of migration routes.
