Caritas Argentina launches 70‑year ‘Hope’ fundraising drive
Caritas Argentina inaugurated its annual Colecta on June 6‑7, 2026 under the slogan “70 años alentando la esperanza”. The nationwide drive will take place in parishes, chapels and community centers across all 67 dioceses, reaching more than 3,500 sites. Mons. Gustavo Carrara, archbishop of La Plata and president of Caritas Argentina, urged the whole society to contribute, emphasizing that donations will support programs in education, early childhood, nutrition, employment, addiction treatment, housing and social integration for vulnerable families.
In the city of Nueve de Julio, local priests organized a parallel effort with door‑to‑door visits, piggy banks at traffic lights and a Corpus Christi mass. About 90 routes, 90 cars and 400 volunteers will collect mainly non‑perishable food and cash, with digital donation options also available.
Funds raised will sustain Caritas’ humanitarian work, which has been active for 70 years, providing both immediate aid and long‑term support to those in need throughout Argentina.
