Basilicata healthcare faces funding scrutiny and new pediatric digital initiative
In Basilicata, regional health official Cosimo Latronico has faced criticism from regional councilor Giovanni Vizziello regarding the utilization of medical funds. Vizziello noted that approximately 44% of government resources intended to reduce medical waiting lists have not yet been spent, totaling over 2 million euros.
To address healthcare accessibility, the Paidos project has been approved. This digital initiative aims to provide continuous pediatric care, specifically targeting 8,155 children aged 0-6 in the region's internal areas. The project seeks to reduce barriers to care and support working mothers through flexible service access.
Other regional developments include efforts to promote wedding tourism in Matera as a driver for economic growth and various community initiatives focused on mental health, social welfare, and elderly care across Italy.
