Caritas begins Argentina’s 70‑year annual collection campaign
Caritas launched its nationwide annual collection on Saturday June 6 and Sunday June 7, marking the charity’s 70‑year anniversary. The drive, promoted by churches, municipalities and volunteers, asks Argentines to donate cash, food and basic supplies to support Caritas’ year‑round programmes in education, health, housing and food security.
Collections are taking place in churches, plazas, supermarkets and public spaces across the country, including Junín, Resistencia and Santiago del Estero. Organisers emphasise that the funds raised during the weekend will finance assistance for hundreds of vulnerable families throughout the year. Digital donation platforms and on‑site collection boxes are also available.
The campaign is coordinated with local parishes and civil authorities, and local media report that volunteers will be present in numerous neighbourhoods to receive contributions and raise awareness of the charity’s work.
