Ukraine faces intense Russian missile attacks and rising refugee needs
Russia launched extensive missile and drone attacks across Ukraine, including a major strike on Kyiv that triggered a red alert. Authorities reported approximately ten powerful explosions in the capital, damaging a school, residential buildings, warehouses, and offices. At least 16 people were injured in Kyiv, including two children aged 10 and 12, while additional casualties were reported in Odessa. Explosions were also noted in the Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Crimea regions.
In response to the strikes, Ukrainian drone forces reported the death of Russian General Anton Grunis in eastern Ukraine.
On the humanitarian front, Caritas Diocesana in Italy is appealing for housing and accommodations to support Ukrainian families fleeing the conflict. The organization is seeking apartments and facilities to house families with children, offering to cover utility costs to assist with their integration.
Meanwhile, near the Ukrainian-Romanian border, residents in Isaccea report living in terror due to an increase in drone incursions. Official data shows 27 unauthorized drone penetrations in Romanian airspace so far this year, a significant increase compared to 2025.
