Carl Honoré advocates for slowing down at Capex conference

Canadian journalist and author Carl Honoré addressed the consequences of modern life's accelerated pace during the Capex Autumn 2026 Master Lecture in Santiago, Dominican Republic. Titled “The Slow Revolution: the price of speed without direction,” the event took place at the UTESA Dominican Convention and Culture Center.

Honoré argued that the obsession with completing more tasks in less time negatively impacts health, family life, and the ability to concentrate. He clarified that slowing down does not mean rejecting speed entirely, but rather finding the appropriate rhythm for each activity to prioritize quality and presence.

In a professional context, Honoré noted that working longer hours does not guarantee better results. He warned that a lack of rest can diminish creativity, increase errors, and harm personal well-being. Alejandro Fondeur, Vice President of FUNCAPEX, also spoke at the event, emphasizing the need to prioritize sound decision-making over mere speed and effort.
