Carla Camurati seeks sequel to ‘Carlota Joaquina’ with original cast

Director Carla Camurati has expressed interest in producing a sequel to the 1995 historical satire ‘Carlota Joaquina, Princesa do Brazil’. The director aims to reunite the original cast, including Marieta Severo, Marco Nanini, and Marcos Palmeira.

Camurati intends to maintain the film's signature irreverent tone and its narrative style of using external observers to recount Brazilian history. The original film was a significant symbol of the ‘Retomada’ period in Brazilian cinema, helping the industry recover following the extinction of Embrafilme.
