Carla Suárez renews as captain of Spanish Billie Jean King Cup team

Carla Suárez has renewed her position as captain of the Spanish Iberdrola Tennis Team for the Billie Jean King Cup. The agreement, formalized in Barcelona with the president of the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET), Miguel Díaz Román, extends her tenure through the 2027-2029 seasons.

Since taking over from Anabel Medina in 2025, the 38-year-old former Top-10 player has led the national team to the Billie Jean King Cup Finals in Shenzhen, placing Spain among the world's top eight. In 2026, the team reached the semifinals for the first time since 2008, eventually falling to the Czech Republic.

Miguel Díaz Román praised the appointment, noting that Suárez's experience and the respect she commands from the players are significant assets to the federation.
