Carles Estríngana to lead CUP candidacy in Blanes municipal elections
The Candidatura d’Unitat Popular (CUP) has announced its candidacy for the May 2027 municipal elections in Blanes, Spain. The list will be headed by current councillor Carles Estríngana, with Helena Gómez occupying the second position.
Following a term in which the party held a single seat in the opposition, the formation aims to expand its representation within the local council. Estríngana stated that the goal is to increase the party's influence on daily municipal life and local policies.
The party's platform focuses on defending social rights, Catalan language, and culture, while opposing far-right rhetoric. Estríngana highlighted previous achievements in areas such as housing, urban gardens, the 'hotel d’entitats' project, and participatory budgeting. The full list of candidates and the main pillars of the electoral program are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
