Carlingford hit-and-run leaves pedestrian in critical condition
A 34-year-old man is in critical condition after being struck by a van in Carlingford, northwest of Sydney. Emergency services were called to Ferndale Avenue at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. The victim was reportedly trapped under the vehicle before being freed by emergency responders.
Police from the Hills Police Area Command arrested a 29-year-old man following a search of nearby bushland. The driver allegedly fled the scene on foot after the collision. The suspect was taken to Castle Hill Police Station, and a crime scene has been established for investigation by the Crash Investigation Unit.
In separate incidents in Queensland, three people died and one was hospitalized during multiple traffic collisions within a six-hour period on August 19. These included a single-vehicle crash into a tree in Brisbane and a three-vehicle collision in Wamuran.
