Carlisle United condemns abuse toward staff and players
Carlisle United has condemned “unacceptable” abusive incidents directed at its players, staff, and head coach Rob Elliot following a recent match. The club issued the statement after Elliot reported that verbal abuse during the game had “crossed the line.”
In a match against Southend United, Georgie Kelly scored twice for Carlisle, including a 97th-minute equalizer that secured a 2-2 draw. Southend’s goals were provided by Leon Chambers-Parillon and Kyle McAdam. Following the result, Southend manager Kieron Dyer noted that his side felt lucky to have secured a point despite conceding in stoppage time.
Elliot expressed understanding of fan frustration regarding the team's performance but described the targeted abuse at the dugout as “completely unacceptable and unfair.”
