Carlo Acutis biopic to premiere on Canale 5

The television film ‘Il mio nome è Carlo’, directed by Giacomo Campiotti, is scheduled to premiere on Canale 5 on Sunday, September 27, 2026. The production explores the life of Carlo Acutis, a teenager who became a symbol of Catholic faith for younger generations before passing away from leukemia at age 15.

Directed by Campiotti, the film depicts three stages of Acutis’s growth at ages six, eleven, and fifteen. The narrative portrays him as an adolescent with interests in computing, video games, and football, who used the internet to spread his faith. The cast includes Samuele Carrino as the teenage Carlo, Lucia Mascino as his mother Antonia, and Flavio Parenti as his father Andrea.

The film arrives during the 20th anniversary of Acutis’s death and shortly after his canonization. During a presentation in Milan, his mother, Antonia Salzano Acutis, expressed her emotional connection to the project, stating, ‘When I saw the film I recognized my Carlo.’ The film is a co-production between RTI and Movie Magic International and will also be available for streaming on Mediaset Infinity.
