Carlo Acutis honored with new square in Monza

A new public square named after Saint Carlo Acutis has been inaugurated in Monza, Italy, located between Via Messa and Via Giordani. The site marks the area where Acutis passed away from leukemia in 2006 at the age of 15. The project features high-quality paving materials such as porphyry and granite, a fountain, urban furniture, and flowerbeds containing over twenty tree species.

Mayor Paolo Pilotto described the space as a place of memory intended to introduce younger generations to Acutis’s life and spiritual testimony. Acutis, who was canonized by Pope Leo XIV in September 2025, is recognized for his deep faith and his use of technology to document religious phenomena.

His mother, Antonia Salzano, has reported receiving numerous personal testimonies from individuals claiming to have received graces through his intercession, though these remain distinct from the miracles officially recognized by the Church to facilitate his canonization.
