Carlo Ancelotti honors late defender Franco Baresi

Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti posted a tribute on Instagram after the death of former Milan and Italy defender Franco Baresi, who died at 66. He called Baresi “my captain” and shared a photo taken while Ancelotti was coaching Real Madrid.

Ancelotti recalled that they played together at AC Milan from 1987 to 1992, winning the Intercontinental Cup, two Champions League titles and two Serie A championships, and that they were teammates for Italy, including at the 1990 World Cup. The tribute comes as Ancelotti begins his tenure as Brazil’s national team manager, with upcoming friendlies against Australia in late July and a match against India in early October.
