Carlo Auteri joins Lega parliamentary group in Sicily

Sicilian regional deputy Carlo Auteri has left the Christian Democracy (Dc) party to join the Lega parliamentary group at the Sicilian Regional Assembly (Ars). The move was announced during a press conference in Catania.

Auteri stated that the decision was made to strengthen ties with a national party capable of representing local interests in Rome. He emphasized the need to provide more political weight to his home province of Syracuse. Luca Sammartino, a prominent figure for Lega in Sicily, welcomed Auteri, noting that the party aims to expand its presence in Sicily and Southern Italy ahead of upcoming regional and local elections.

Auteri’s political trajectory includes previous memberships in Fratelli d’Italia and the Dc. His transition comes amid a period of shifting political alignments in Sicily as various parties prepare for upcoming electoral contests.
