Carlo Böcklin exhibition opens in Collesalvetti
The Pinacoteca Carlo Servolini in Collesalvetti is hosting the first major exhibition dedicated to the artist Carlo Böcklin, titled ‘Carlo Böcklin: il segreto di Pan dal Bosco sacro alle rive del Tirreno’. Running from October 17, 2024, to March 4, 2027, the exhibition features over 100 works, including 60 previously unexposed pieces sourced from the artist's heirs.
The collection includes paintings, drawings, watercolors, engravings, and illustrations. A significant portion of the display consists of graphic materials from the Uffizi’s Gabinetto disegni e stampe.
A central highlight of the exhibition is the painting ‘Tritone e nereide’. Recent diagnostic investigations suggest the work was a collaborative effort between Carlo and his father, the Swiss master Arnold Böcklin, as technical analysis reveals distinct painterly imprints from both artists on the same canvas.
