Carlo Díaz seeks extension as Prosecutor General

Carlo Díaz, the current Prosecutor General, has expressed his intention to seek a four-year extension of his term. Díaz cited three primary motivations for his candidacy: the continuity of strategic projects within the Public Ministry, the ongoing criminal prosecution of organized crime structures, and the advancement of a second phase of cooperation with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

Díaz noted that his current term is nearing its end and that the decision regarding his continuity will rest with the magistrates of the Full Court. He emphasized that his administration has moved beyond targeting low-level operatives to reaching the leadership of criminal organizations.
