Carlo Motta cycles 1,300 km through Senegal and Gambia for charity
Cyclist Carlo Motta is undertaking a 1,300 km journey through Senegal and Gambia from September 12 to October 15. This marks his fifth bicycle trip across the African continent, which serves to support two distinct social projects funded through crowdfunding.
The first initiative, titled “Teranga” and promoted by IAL Lombardia, focuses on professional training and social inclusion for young migrants. The project aims to facilitate regular employment by connecting migrant workers with Italian companies through linguistic training, civic education, and professional preparation. As part of the trip, Motta will assist in teaching Italian language and work culture.
The second project, “Acqua per Sourou – Il pozzo delle donne,” aims to fund the construction of a well in the village of Sourou, located in the Sine-Saloum area near Gambia. This well is intended to provide water for the gardens of approximately forty women, enhancing their agricultural productivity and economic autonomy.
Upon completing his route, Motta will donate his bicycle, provided by Insubria Sport, to the Mbao training center to assist a student living far from school.
